Phil is originally from Berlin, Germany, where he grew up and spent most of his life either taking in the big city or extensively hiking and exploring the woods outside of town. In 2004, after finishing high school, he moved to Fort Myers and has since obtained his German-American dual citizenship. Phil is a certified Florida Master Naturalist and has an art degree from Florida Gulf Coast University – he considers the two major passions in his life to be the arts and the natural world.
He writes music, paints and does graphic design, and he is the co-founder of Ghostbird Theatre Company in downtown Fort Myers. He began guiding Everglades Adventure tours in 2013 and he is the official German interpreter/translator guide for the company. He also works as a guide and 1st mate on dolphin and wildlife cruises at Good Time Charter. When he was a kid, experiencing Florida’s natural world during his many holidays here was a major thrill for him, and he considers it a great privilege to now introduce others to the beauty of the Everglades ecosystem and culture.
